Film as a time capsule

Sometimes looking at filmmaking as a time capsule of culture can be an inspiring way to capture every-day life activities of people around the city.

3 years ago, I found myself in an exhibit that had 10 minute long clips of New York streets from, what looked like, the 80's. There was nothing to these clips aside from they were all capturing different street corners around the city. The thing that made them fascinating, to me, was how interesting these otherwise mundane things like old ads, clothing etc...were all the sudden by the simple nature of time.
